So I went to watch The Amazing Spider Man 2 this afternoon with some of my girlfriends and I wowed and weeped through the movie. This is, by far, the most romantic and heart breaking superhero movies in Marvel universe. I mean I literally cried when Peter said - Oops, spoiler alert! - "Stay with me" to Gwen over and over again.
Peter Parker and Gwen Stacy have got to be the best couple in Marvel universe - back off, MJ! You see, this is one of the most bizarre thing that happens in superhero comic books (not mangas). Please, do correct me if I'm wrong: Stan Lee created Spider Man and thus the first volume of the comic came out. But through-out the years, different writers wrote on the stories. So the writer of the, let's say 5th volume is not the same as the 40th volume. My question exactly is why?
Do they get permission to write that? Were they given some kind of special privilege to write on the stories? But the producers were writing their own version of Spider Man in Spider Man Trilogy and they worked out pretty well - fantastic, even.
With that being said, is it OK for me to assume that Steve Rogers of Captain America can be coupled with Natasha Romanoff, the Black Widow, if the writers (I wish you read my post, Joss Whedon! ;)) want to make it that way, and that it doesn't only happen on parallel universe? Right? No? Maybe No? Yes?
Well, I don't really understand what people who actually read the comics think about it. I mean I'm in between those people who don't read but watch and those who read and expecting the movie to be accordingly with the story in the comics. I google them. Ha! I'm like, one of the wannabes. I hope that doesn't make me tacky.
Anyways, since we're in the topic of superheroes - and Amazing Spider Man 2 - I want to put my two cents at the soundtrack section. Two (three?) words: I'm disappointed. I was doing MCU marathon these past few days and mesmerized by their soundtrack, which are basically rock songs. Or alternative. I mean Papa Roach, Redlight King, AC/DC. You know what I'm saying right? I mean did you listen to Spider Man 2 OST? They're THE best soundtrack I've ever listened to, with the capital THE.
I almost posted on twitter about this. It goes something like this in my head: "I love how all superhero movies use rock/alternative songs as their soundtrack. It sounds so badass." You know, something like that. It's just my one and only source of rock songs, and it's so cool, but BAM! Amazing Spiderman 2 came out and guess who's producing the whole soundtrack? Pharrell Williams. PHARRELL!
How did we go from full AC/DC on Iron Man 2 to Pharrell on Amazing Spider Man 2?? HOW? Don't get me wrong, I love Pharrell (Happy can be annoying, though) but I clearly didn't expect him to be in Amazing Spider Man 2 soundtrack. Or in any superhero flick. I expected Dashboard Confessional, Train, Yellowcard, Pete Yorn.
I do love the songs in Amazing Spider Man 2, though (Pharrell - Here and Phosphorescent - Song for Zula are gooooood). Maybe because it's more like a romance flick, I don't know. I'm hoping the rest of Marvel movies won't follow in Amazing Spider Man 2's footsteps. They're good. But not like, Rock Good.
*pray*
*fingers crossed*
