Because Nobody Does It

Does anyone remember the movie Live Free or Die Hard a.k.a Die Hard 4? There was this one scene where Justin Long asked Bruce (I forgot what their roles) why did he do the stuff that he did - saving the world, etc. and Bruce's reply was, if I'm not mistaken, 'because nobody does it'.

You know, I felt both touched and sad to hear that. I know it's just a movie but I think it happens in reality as well. There are so many things - good things - that nobody does. In Die Hard, Bruce was willingly to risk his life to go against whatever nemesis he needed to face and he always did. Maybe because he was the only who die hard. I know sometimes you do something that nobody does because maybe you're the only one who's capable of it. But that doesn't mean others can't try to do the same.

Have you ever felt like you weren't supposed to be the one who's doing something but you did it eventually because no one else did? Sometimes you did it willingly, in hoping others would realize and did it too. Sometimes you did it willingly, accompanied by anger because you've done it again and again, and others still didn't do it. Or sometimes, you did it unwillingly because you start to think that since nobody care, why should you?

I think this is partly because human tends to expect more from others. You ever have that day where things go wrong and you and your friends started to accuse each other and say things like, 'I thought you'd do this!' or 'I thought this was not going to happen!'?? I think we all have. But to expect also means that you're going to be expected to do certain things by others.

Sometimes I expect some people to do some things in my ways, but they don't. And sometimes I don't do things the way I'm expected to. I guess at the end of the day, what we can do is try our best, and just try as much as possible to be kind. It's gonna take a lot of energy, because sometimes, when there's a very nice people around who always help people, others would think that this very person doesn't need help. Little did they know, ey. I think we all have to try to be nice to everyone, and be nicer to the nicest person, you know? Because sometimes the strongest person is the one who needs support the most. The happiest person is the one who needs to be cheered up the most. Because being strong, happy, and nice is a tough job. That's why most people choose not to give a damn. Or simply being mean.

In a way, it goes the same with Jesus. He is the only one who's capable of saving the world. He did it willingly and He knows what would be the end of His life, and even though He's 100% God, He is also 100% human. And even with all His mighty power to heal and calm the storms, He still needs His disciples' supports. His Father's support.

Just as Jesus needs support, what about human, who is much weaker? We can't wait until 'somebody' does it. Act now. Just because nobody does it, doesn't mean it's wrong. And just because everybody does it, doesn't meant it's right.

We have to support each other to be better, wiser, stronger and happier.

The things is, are you capable enough? You decide yourself.
