Day #6: Life Is A Temporary Assignment

Previous chapter had actually mentioned about this, but Rick made a whole new chapter for this. He said that life on earth is only a temporary assignment. We are not to stay here on earth forever, because God has prepared a better place for us, our real home: Heaven.

I do read bible and I've read some verses that are written in this book, but surprisingly, I never see it the way it is explained in this chapter. Bible actually describes our life on earth only as a glimpse, a race, and only for a brief. Yep. In Heaven, we'll spend eternity, but on earth, it's only for a while.

This also means that we cannot get too attached to earthly things, for we're not going to bring them with us when we go to Heaven. Don't indulge your ego at the expense of your soul. Be very careful with the world and the temptation it offers. And never think that you can give into temptation and still being a true Christian at the same time. You must not serve two masters!

Think about it. We know God's promises. We know He will fulfill it, no matter how ugly things may be right now. At the end of the day, it is our soul that needs to be saved, and not our money, fame or ambitions.

Besides this is another reason not to be afraid of death: we're not leaving home, we're going home to the place our Heavenly Father has prepared for us.
