Nerd Ramblings

YIn the spirit of the soon-to-be-showing-up Avengers: Age Of Ultron, I would like to weigh in some opinions about the two ultimate rivals of superheroes sources - DC and Marvel.

I know millions of people have expressed their opinions about this on their tweets or on Youtube's comment sections in every recent superhero's movie trailer an d my two cents won't be affecting much.

But this is my blog. Which is why I'm writing this unimportant stuff right now. Wowimsuchanerd

Anyways..

So I don't read those superheroes comic books, but I do read mangas. And I wikipedia stuff a lot so I know bits about DC and Marvel. And I happen to love both of them. I mean I watch Smallville and not just a few episodes -  I watched all ten seasons. So yeah, it proves my point.

But I also enjoy all of Marvel's movies. And when Marvel started their vision to create a cinematic universe it sounded so spectacular I wonder why people in the industry never thought of that before! After The Avengers I was hooked so deep I was so close of buying all the comic books. Though I did a research and comic books are expensive and some of their storylines are so weird and unacceptable so no.

Back to my point, I also watched Superman Return and as much as I love a Tom Welling version of Clark Kent, I must admit Brandon Routh ruined Superman's image and franchise badly. And to cast whatshername as Lois!

You see, if only DC has the same vision as Marvel. They started out a little bit too late. I mean you've got multiverse instead of one universe and while it can be satisfying for a while, it won't when you started your Justice League project. I mean I've seen enough Superman movies. (I also have enough Spiderman movies though somehow I wouldn't mind watching MCU's reboot)

Apparently DC's attempt in creating a cinematic universe has started way back in 1994. I WAS FOUR YEARS OLD! Which means they should've thought about it before they're making Smallville!! I'd be thrilled to see Tom Welling being the superman instead of the blur (ugh). And to have Erica Durance as Lois Lane!!

Well I haven't watched Arrow nor The Flash but I heard they're good and I'm watching them after Agents of SHIELD. And Agent Carter. And Daredevil.

The thing is, what makes MCU so successful and what fails DC? They're both actually good and both don't make any sense at all. Even with all the science explanation of Marvel's superheroes.

MCU started with Iron Man and it worked greatly. DCCU started with Green Lantern and it bombed at the box office.

I'd usually say that would be because of  the director (I'd say these people were the ones who made movies like Twilight and FSoG bad, not the actors - no offense). But I also think that casting is important.

Casting Robert Downey Jr as Iron Man? He's the perfect Tony Stark! Chris Evans as Captain America? Yess! Chris Hemsworth as Thor? He fits being a god. Scarlett Johansson as Natasha Romanoff? She's like the most gorgeous woman in Hollywood!! And Mark Ruffalo replacing Ed Norton as The Hulk?? Couldn't be better.

However. DC.
First you're making a great solid movie of Batman and didn't use it as the start of your cinematic universe and opted for a much more inferior Green Lantern. And having Ryan Reynolds as Green Lantern?? He's hot but I still dislike him because of what happened with Scarlett.

And when I watched Man of Steel, I felt like I had somehow a glimpse of hope of what the franchise could have offered. And then they started a sequel. And put Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman. What. The. Heck.

I know I shouldn't be judging at all especially when the movie isn't even coming out yet, but I just don't get it. It's like they're repeating the whole Brandon Routh mistake. Gal Gadot is pretty and all but she's not the right one. Well sometimes when I say things like this the universe will somehow works its way and the opposite of my judgment would happen, so I do hope so Gal Gadot could prove me wrong.

I mean Christian Bale as Batman and Anne Hathaway as Catwoman and Joseph-Gordon Levitt as Robin is legit. But they insisted on a reebot and I just don't see it.

I really don't want DCCU to bomb. But I guess I wouldn't be surprised if it didn't work.

What do you think?
