Something I Don't Know

I just bought I Kissed Dating Goodbye today. I've read the book but since I've given mine to Luke and I really like the book so much, I bought it again so I can add it to my own personal library. So just recently I browsed through the internet since I got nothing to do, I stumbled upon a blog with the title Joshua Harris' I Kissed Dating Goodbye: Wisdom or Foolishness?

Apparently many people have felt that Josh's book has emerged some problems. Young adult and teenagers are afraid to be friends. Adults don't know how to act, or when to actually start the courtship. And thus a new question raised: Is 'I Kissed Dating Goodbye' fitting for even adults? Some believe its content can be applied by teenagers until they reach certain age.

While some might say the readers take the book way too deep to the heart, I'd say they have misinterpreted the book itself. I'm not an expert at criticizing a book, but I'm pretty sure foolishness was not the feeling I had after I finished the book. You might think, 'it's because you have gone through the same as what Harris been through.' Maybe.

The problem with this people is because they have shifted their focus from the courtship problems to Harris' book instead of God. Harris' book is not what you should have followed, God's word is. Blaming Harris at the end of the day seems somehow, unfair. I don't think Joshua Harris thought everyone in the world must not dating. He just stated that when you don't think you're ready, stop pursuing. When you're not ready for commitment, don't get intimate. You know? It's that simple.

And he never at once forbid friendship between men and women. I find people's critics over this book had become so unfriendly and unfair. Maybe they should re-read the book. I don't know. Or maybe they shouldn't. What they need is bible.

A little advice, never let other books, no matter how fantastic they are, replace the role of bible: to be your guide book of life. Just as don't let yourself to depend on Pastor as you are to Jesus.
